Turkey is a 'Eurasian' (European and Asian) country as it stretches across both the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and the Thrace in the Balkan region of Southeastern Europe. It actually has borders with eight other countries inclusive of Greece, Georgia, Iran and Iraq. The southern shores are bathed by the mediterranean sea and the west Aegean and Archipelago sea with the black sea to the North. Culture wise because turkey stretches across two continents it enjoys a blend of both European and Asia traditions. Turkey's culture and financial centre is Istanbul and is the only city in the world to sit on two continents. It has an interesting history and at one point was the capital city of the Roman Empire. Many of the historical areas of Istanbul have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Turkey is blessed with beautiful weather along with many natural holiday must-do's such as bathing in the hot mud baths.
